To build a "green" economy, capable of safeguarding the provision of ecological services, it is, first of all, necessary to solve the problems derived from the impossibility of appropriation of environmental services and from the use of a metric that allows the accounting of collective benefits.
By using a global metric, which has already been widely tested – the global hectare –,departing from the knowledge of debt (Ecological Footprint) and credit (Biocapacity) of a territory we can reach the difference – the EcoBalance - in global hectares.
On the supply side, we want to understand how much it costs to provide the service and this information should be used as a source factor in determining the demand side price. This conversion to a monetary base through the costs of provision, will allow a "settling of accounts", capable of ensuring the maintenance of vital services, while constituting the basic element to booster the whole organization of the global neighborhood.
